A Study in Isolation is a research-based performative and co-creation project, a concept by Jan Swierkowski exploring the intersection of the art and science of living in space. The pilot phase began on June 3 and will culminate at the Universe Pavilion during the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025.
For this pilot, multidisciplinary artists Amrit Karki and AMAZUMI have been invited to co-create along with Jan Świerkowski and assistant curator Aishwarya Kumar, based their lived experiences of isolation through analog space missions at Lunares Research Station, a performance shaped by architectures—both real and imagined—built in extreme conditions.
This first edition opens up two distinct modes of being in isolation: continuum and disruption.
